Questions
- Is Free really free?
- Yes. One server, every Mac that uses it and the whole app catalog, with no time limit, no account and no card.
- Do I need an account?
- Not for Free. Pro needs one: you sign in with a link sent to your email, no password, and that unlocks Pro on every Mac you use.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Nothing is stopped or deleted. Your services keep running on the server. Extra servers, your own services beyond one and your actions show a Pro label in the panel, and wait until Pro is back.
- Do you see my servers or my data?
- No. Your Macs talk to each other directly, over your home network or Tailscale. Pro’s offline alerts need one thing from your server: a check-in every minute with its name, nothing else. Free never talks to us except to check for updates.
- Does it need a Mac mini?
- No. Any Mac on macOS 15 or later can be the server: a Mac mini, an old iMac, a Mac Studio running local models.
- Why isn’t Tailscale or remote access in Pro?
- It’s your network. Tailscale is built into Free, and we don’t limit how you reach your own server.
- Can I buy on iPhone?
- No. You buy Pro here and sign in everywhere else. There’s no iPhone app yet; when there is, signing in there unlocks Pro too.
- When does billing start?
- When offline alerts and the weekly report are built. Until then Pro is free and labelled. You get 30 days’ notice in the app, and beta users and the waitlist are offered lifetime at $79, for the first 500.
